The Onion That Made You Cry is a new devised theatre piece combining movement, storytelling and structured improvisation. It explores East Asian parenting and how it impacts your life later on. It examines the fine line between culture specificity and universality through recollected memories about family and intimate relationships that trigger feelings of nostalgia.
The first moment when I realised that my family relationship had a huge influence on my love life, so many things can be explained. “You might have problems now because of what happened to you when you were growing up, but we can grow and develop new ways of seeing ourselves at any age.”
